Strings

The Strings Program is an optional opportunity for fifth grade students to begin learning a string instrument in a supportive, engaging environment. Through hands-on instruction, students develop instrumental technique, music literacy, creativity, and performance skills while participating in concerts and other school and district music events.

All 5th graders are invited to join Strings class! No experience necessary! 

Getting Started

  • A limited number of instruments are available to rent through the school at no cost and will be distributed based on financial need and order of registration in the class.
  • There are several music stores in the area that offer quality instrument rentals as well. I will provide information regarding the proper size instrument for your child if we do not have one at school for them to use. You do not need to rent/purchase anything yet. Please do not obtain an instrument until after I have met with your child and sent more information to you.
  • Strings class is a big responsibility. Violin and Viola students are expected to bring their instruments and Strings folder to school for each class (2 times per week). Cello and bass students will have one instrument at home to practice on and another that is used at school, but are expected to bring their Strings folder to school 2 times per week. All students should practice at home 3-4 times per week and take proper care of their instrument.
