About Springwoods Elementary School

Springwoods Elementary School opened in 1985 and received construction updates in 2015 and a brand-new 13 room addition and 2 additional playgrounds in 2019. Springwoods Elementary is nestled in the cozy Lake Ridge community. Springwoods, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Lake Ridge woods, is affectionately called, "The Woods." With its shining legacy of high achievement and its bright future, there's no question why we say, "It's all good in The Woods!"

Springwoods Elementary School has been designated by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Fully Accredited school and has earned multiple PWC School of Excellence Awards. Springwoods has received The Governor's School of Excellence Award, as well as the National Blue-Ribbon School Award, and recently the VDOE Continuous Improvement Award. Springwoods is Virginia's first World Kindness School and was designated a Purple Star School in 2019.

Springwoods Elementary School follows a house system, our 4 Eagle Nests, that represent character traits that our students and staff aim to live by. All staff and students belong to one of the nests, which all have unique colors, mascots, cheers and chants. We are 4 Eagle Nests and 1 Eagle Nation!

Special Programs

Springwoods Elementary School offers to its students a Gifted and Talented program and an English Language Learner program. In 2019, Springwoods opened its STEAM lab which introduced STEAM into the school encore rotation. Springwoods unleashed WATCH D.O.G.S. which is a K12 program that makes it easy for fathers (or father figures) to spend meaningful time with their children in a school setting.

Springwoods Elementary School has an active Student Council Association (SCA). Extra-curricular programs include Patrols, Yearbook, Robotics, Battle of the Books, Choir, and Orchestra.

Opportunities For Parent and Community Involvement

Springwoods Elementary School has a very involved Parent Teacher Association (PTA) which sponsors a variety of activities for students and the community throughout the year. Through its fundraising, the PTA provides instructional materials for students and teachers as well as opportunities for staff development. More information can be found about our PTA by emailing PTASpringwoods@gmail.com.
