During this time of extended school closure please be on the lookout for emails from me with resources and learning ideas. The biggest thing you can do to help your child during this time is keep them reading! A folder did come home last week with resources as well. If your child did not attend school on Friday and you were unable to pick up your child's materials, email me and let me know. I can send items to you.  Your child should still have the homwork packet for this month and be working on it. Please email me with any questions or concerns. I will be checking my email daily.
*** Please look under "Files and Documents" to see the pacing guides for each subject area for 3rd grade. This is what the County creates at the beginning of the school year - the 3rd grade team uses those guides as a guideline but at times may modify the pacing based on students needs. The 3rd grade teams instructional calendar is also provided so there is an understanding where we left off and what else has to be taught. I may also need to add items to make sure that content is covered. No two classes are in the exact same place. However, there are no specific assignments this week Mar.16-20.***

Check out the county web page for Home Learning. There are optional daily schedules, optional learning links and other resources to help at home:

Welcome Parents:
I love teaching at Springwoods!  This is my fourteenth year teaching at Springwoods and my fourth year teaching third grade.    I have four children, Laura 37 and Robert 35, Elaina 16, and Carena 14.  My son lives in Arlington as do my daughter Laura and her husband Frank.  They have a wonderful little four year old, Ryder.  I am an Oma to him and love the time I spend with him! My husband works for The Department of Commerce, The Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria.

I received a Bachelor's Degree of Liberal Arts in History from George Mason University and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Mary Washington. Prior to teaching, I worked in the Federal Government for the Army Corps of Engineers at Ft. Myer and the DOD The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs, I then worked  in Arlington County for the Department of Human Services for 15 years as an Office Manager.  It's going to be a great year!

Welcome to 3rd Grade!
